As the words left Jeanne's lips, the shape and form of the people who were slumped on the ground in lethargic surrender began warping before her eyes.

They hadn't yet morphed into inhuman forms as completely as the Furnishings here, but... I recognized the pieces of furniture they were transforming into. Some were turning into lamps... some into bedframes...

No, it wasn't their "forms" that were changing.

Perhaps, in Jeanne's eyes, they had looked that way from the very instant they resigned themselves to idleness.

So unbearably unfamiliar, so scarcely human.
